Ike Diogu Named AfroBasket MVP In 2017 Afrobasket Tournament

Nigeria’s Ike Diogu was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the just concluded FIBA Afrobasket competition which was hosted by Senegal and Tunisia.

Throughout the tournament, Diogu averaged 22 points and 8.7 rebounds per game at the 16-team FIBA Africa’s most important competition and his outstanding performance earned him the award.

The 34-year old power forward, who has also been named on the All-Tournament team, was the tournament’s highest scorer with a total of 132 points and was Nigeria’s highest points scorer in four of their six games at the tournament.

D’Tigers, failed to defend their Afrobasket title, after they lost to co-hosts Tunisia 77-65 in the finals played on Saturday. Two years ago, the team won the trophy on the same ground.
