Imo APC Slams Okorocha Over Harsh Policies, Says Residents Dying of Hunger

The Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Rochas Okorocha to take immediate steps in addressing severe “hunger and starvation” caused by harsh policies of his administration in the state.

The Director General of APC Progressives Members, a group within the Imo APC, Chris Esiobu, has accused the governor of abandoning several developmental projects in the state, which has by extension affected economic activities of the people of Imo.

Esiobu, in a statement issued in Owerri on Monday, threatened to drag Governor Okorocha before the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over unbearable hardship in the state due to the governor’s alleged harsh policies.

The APC chieftain also threatened to publish several contracts that have now been abandoned by Okorocha’s government in the national dailies.

“The people of Imo are dying of hunger and starvation, yet nothing has been done in a way of creating job opportunities and revenues for the youths of Imo State to earn a living,” the statement read in part.

Reacting to the allegation, however, principal officer on electronic media to the governor, Anyachukwu Idiong, said the allegation was devoid of merit.
