Imo Deputy Speaker Impeached As 7 Suspended Lawmakers Recalled

The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, has been impeached on Tuesday.

He was impeached amid tight security during plenary on Tuesday.

Iwuanyanwu is the representative of Nwangele state constituency in the state assembly.

It is yet unclear why he was impeached but the impeachment came after the Orlu representative, Ekene Nnodim, submitted resolutions of 18 out of 27 lawmakers in the assembly.

The Speaker, Paul Emeziem, okayed his impeachment and the house is expected to elect a new deputy speaker on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Uche Ogbuagu who was suspended alongside 6 other members of the assembly have been recalled.

The other lawmakers are Kennedy Ibe (Obowo), Onyemaechi Njoku (Ihitte Uboma), Uche Ogbuagu (Ikeduru), Anyadike Nwosu (Ezinihitte Mbaise), Philip Ejiogu (Owerri North) and Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West)
