The Imo State Government through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring has charged the Youth leaders in the state to join the government in its fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring, Chief Ezechukwu Obonna on Wednesday.
According to Ogbonna, the government is committed to eradicating the state of drug abuse and urged youths leaders in various communities and local government areas to join in the fight by reporting suspected drug related activities in their localities.
He said: “The Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring in Imo State is issuing a clarion call to all youth leaders across the state to take immediate action against illicit drug consumption and trafficking in their communities.
“As part of the government’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse, youth leaders are urged to report any suspected drug-related activities.
“Their role is crucial in ensuring a drug-free Imo State, and failure to report such activities or shielding perpetrators will attract serious consequences.
