Imo: Group Warns Against Inviting Expelled Orlu PDP Chairman For Party Reconciliation

The Imo PDP Renaissance Group, an association within the Peoples Democratic Party of Imo State, Tuesday, warned the Eze Duruiheoma-led Reconciliation Committee of the party against inviting Chief Aloy Igwe and his cohort for reconciliation because they refused to withdraw their case against the party in court. Our correspondent reports that Chief Igwe, a former chairman of the PDP in Orlu zone, was expelled from the party in October 2020 over alleged anti-party activities. He had since taken the matter to court.

The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Comrade Obinna Jefter, made available to newsmen in Owerri, reminded the reconciliation committee that Chief Igwe and his allies’ refusal to withdraw the case was in disobedience to an earlier directive of the party hierarchy.

According to the release, “We are aware that the mandate given to them include reaching out to aggrieved persons and possibly reconcile them with the party. But it will not be in the interest of the party if we fold our hands and watch the return of persons who are currently in court with our party readmitted to the party.

“Such characters, led by the former zonal chairman, Orlu PDP, Chief Aloy Igwe, and others who took the PDP, Imo State, to court, agitating for a total cancellation of our congresses should do the needful by withdrawing the matter accordingly before they should be contacted for reconciliation. Chief Aloy Igwe has been expelled from the PDP right from his ward in Owerri-Ebeiri. Any attempt by the committee to reach out to him for peace talks without their withdrawing the suit against the party would be rejected outright by our group.

“We shall not continue to reward mediocrity. A man who came in from another political party years back, and was considered for leadership positions above others should not turn around to bite the fingers that fed him. We wish to align ourselves with the position of our party leaders during the last leaders’ meeting at Mbutu in Aboh-Mbaise LGA, that any aggrieved member who has genuine and isolated case against the PDP congress may be considered for attention, but those asking for outright cancellation of the entire congresses are enemies of our great party.

“Aloy Igwe and his group currently funding factionalization of the PDP and working for those who stole our mandate must never be readmitted into the PDP without doing the needful.”
