Impeached Imo Deputy Speaker Reinstalled

Six days after his removal, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu has been reinstated as the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Iwuanyanwu was impeached on Tuesday, November 2, after the lawmaker representing Orlu state constituency, Ekene Nnodim, submitted the resolution of 18 out of 27 lawmakers to the assembly.

His reinstatement came on the same day the Imo lawmakers impeached Paul Emeziem as the speaker of the house.

Emeziem’s impeachment was endorsed by 19 out of 27 lawmakers of the house. They accused him of abuse of office, forgery, gross misconduct and high-handedness.

THE WHISTLER reported that a new speaker, Kennedy Ibe, was elected and installed immediately after Emeziem’s impeachment.
