INEC Must Reshuffle Before Presidential Poll, Demands Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has demanded the reshuffling of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking at a caucus meeting of the APC in Abuja on Monday, Oshiomhole called on the Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to reshuffle some senior officials of the Commission.

According to the APC Chairman, some INEC State Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) are allegedly working for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the rescheduled February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections. He cited the REC in Akwa Ibom, Mike Igini, as one of those allegedly working for the PDP.

The APC Chairman’s allegation came after REC Igini alleged that INEC vehicles containing some materials were burnt on Saturday by thugs of a political party. He however did not mention the party.

“Some of our vehicles that were distributing materials were burnt yesterday and who are those instigating this? Politicians.

“This is rather unfortunate. Politicians who are the greatest beneficiaries of this democracy have become the greatest threats,” Igini had said on Saturday.
