INEC To Nigerians: Don’t Be Deceived By ‘Any Result’

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged Nigerians to disregard unofficial election results being circulated on social media.

Following INEC’s conduct of Nigeria’s presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, results from different polling units across states of the country are being shared on social media by agents and supporters of different political parties.

While some of the results may be true reflection of results collated at different polling units, others may have been manipulated to portray certain candidates as winning in the election.

In a tweet on its official Twitter handle (@INECNigeria) on Sunday night, the electoral body urged the public not to take the election results in circulation on social media seriously.

“Kindly disregard any “RESULT” you see on Social Media platforms. INEC is the only constitutional body empowered to declare the outcome of the #NigeriaDecides2019 election results. Please be guided!” INEC said.

Meanwhile, the Commission stated earlier that it has opened the collation Center for the 2019 presidential election at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja.

The collation of the presidential results is expected to start at the ICC by 11 a.m. on Monday.
