Innoson Retracts N14b Claim Against GTB

Nigerian automobile company, Innoson Motors has retracted it’s N14 billion claim against the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).

Recall that the Chief Executive of Innoson Motors, Mr Innocent Chukwuma, had claimed on Thursday 7th June that the Supreme Court ordered GTBank to pay him the sum of N14 billion for judgment debt and the N6 billion allegedly owed him.

GTBank in a quick reaction to the circulating statement told the public that Innoson’s claims were “false, mischievous and malicious”.

“There was no directive or Order issued by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Bank to make any payment to any of its debtor Customers.

‘’We again reiterate that there is no iota of truth in the falsehood being peddled by desperate and mischievous elements and the General Public should disregard same in its entirety,” part of the Bank’s press statement read.

However, the company has apologised for the “misleading information” in a statement through its official Twitter page adding that the caption was a slight distortion of the information.

“The management of Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing want to bring to the attention of the public to the caption: *SUPREME COURT ORDERS GTBank TO PAY 14BN to INNOSON.’’ the tweet read

“The caption was a slight distortion of the information. When the information came to our notice we had to correct the error made by the staff of the agency managing our social media accounts. We apologise for that misleading information.’’
