The meeting is seen as part of efforts to pacify leaders of the South West following the killing of Mrs Funke Olakunri, the daughter of the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

Olakunri, the third daughter of the nonagenarian Afenifere leader, was killed by some gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen along Ore-Shagamu expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The killing sparked outrage in the South West and especially, among Afenifere leaders who claimed that Yoruba land was under siege by Fulani herdsmen.

Present at the meeting are Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Inspector General of Police.

This is the third time in two weeks that the president will be holding meetings with traditional leaders from the zone.

Recall that two weeks ago, the Ooni had held a meeting with the president over the security situation in the country.

The Ooni told journalists after the meeting that he came to see the president over the insecurity in Yoruba land, declaring that the Yorubas do not want a war with any group in the country.

Yesterday, Buhari also held a meeting with elders and leaders from Ogun State yesterday. Those at the meeting were the Governor, Dapo Abiodun, former governors, Olusegun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel.
