Instagram Brings Stories To Explore Tab In New Update

Instagram has rolled out a new update to its platform that lets users view Stories in the Explore tab.The move according to the Facebook owned company is a means to boost engagement and accessibility.

The Explore section on Instagram shows you popular photos and videos from around the world based on your interests. Until now, only Stories uploaded by those you follow were only visible at the top of the Home section. But with the new update, users will be able to view popular Stories from around the world.

“More than 100 million people visit Explore every day to discover photos and videos from people they don’t yet follow. The new suggested stories section highlights the most interesting stories from across Instagram’s vast global community — and like the rest of Explore, the stories you’ll see are personalized to your interests.” said Instagram in a blog post introducing Stories on Explore.

In August, Instagram launched Stories – a Snapchat-like feature that lets you post short videos or photos that last no more than 24 hours. While uploading your Stories, you can post photos and short videos, type or draw on the images and videos. Instagram Stories provides basic editing tools in-app itself, to edit before posting it.

To upload a story, you can tap onto the ‘add’ icon in the Home tab or slide from left to right to directly access the camera.

Instagram confirmed that the update has already been rolled out globally to iOs, Android and users must be on Instagram version 9.5.0 or above to take advantage of it.
