The news comes as Instagram rolls out one of its most-requested features—multiple account switching—to iOS and Android users.
According to TechCrunch, the photo-sharing site is testing out the new feature following calls to beef up security from hackers.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) allows Instagram users to verify a phone number. Then, if anyone tries to log into your account with your email and password, you’ll be texted an authentication code that must also be entered to gain access to your account. That means hackers need more than your email and password that could be guessed, stolen, or tricked out of you with a phishing scam.

The new security feature appears to still be in testing stages and has not yet been rolled out to all devices
Instagram’s parent company, Facebook, has offered the added layer of security for years via Login Approvals, which require a security code to access your account from unknown browsers. Twitter, Tumblr, Snapchat, Google, and Twitch, among others, also provide some type of two-factor authentication.
