First half goals by Gary Cahill and Harry Kane gave England a much-needed victory over Nigeria at Wembley.
Gareth Southgate’s side controlled the first half after Cahill headed home a corner to give the Three Lions an early lead.
Harry Kane doubled their advantage in the 39th minute with drilled shot past Francis Uzoho.
Eric Dier picks off a poor pass and plays the ball to Raheem Sterling, who has the held the ball up for Harry Kane. The Tottenham man takes a touch and drills a low finish into the bottom corner.
Nigeria improved after the break and Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the Super Eagles 4 minutes into the second half.
Odion Ighalo’s shot across goal strikes the foot of the post and rebounds to Iwobi inside the box and the Arsenal man strokes in a well-taken, first-time finish.
The goal gave the visitor’s momentum and they mounted pressure on England but were unable to find the equlaiser.
Gernot Rohr’s men play Czech Republic in four days’ time, before flying to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
