Invasion Of Justice Odili’s House ‘Criminal Enterprise’– AGF Malami

The Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, has described the October 29 invasion of Justice Mary Odili’s (JSC) residence in Abuja as a “criminal enterprise” which the police are trying to unravel.

Malami stated this while appearing on Channels Television program ‘ Sunday Politics’ to further clear the air on the recent development.

He dismissed attempt by the interviewer to draw similarity with the raid on some judges’ residences by the Department of State Services in 2016; particularly that of the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, who was later removed from office.

In response to the question on Onnoghen whose farm was allegedly raided by some persons in 2019, Malami said he had no comment.

“No comment over that. I wouldn’t like to comment one way or the other. What is at stake is the issue of invasion on the house of Justice Odili and I tell you clear that neither the Government nor Malami in his personal capacity is involved,” he said.

Recall that one of the 14 suspects in the invasion, Lawrence Ajodo, had said he was engaged as a consultant by Malami, but insisted the AGF had no knowledge about the raid on Odili’s house.

However, Malami insisted that he had no relationship whatsoever with Ajodo.

“I do not know him. I do not engage him formally or informally. That is the true position of things.

“The report of IGP is that this is a clear case of criminal enterprise,” he said.

Reacting to the call for an independent investigation by the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), the AGF said the NBA president, Olumide Akpata, may be pursuing a personal agenda against him.

“If the NBA feels that they don’t have confidence in the report that has been handed down by the IGP, I think they know the better way or approach to embark on.

“And I expect them to challenge the veracity, urgency of the report in court. I think the NBA is perhaps having an agenda. I am talking about the National President of the NBA, perhaps maybe he has his own agenda that he is pursuing either rising from certain conspiracies or not.

“But then if he feels strongly about the report which has been formally released by the IGP, he knows how best it can be set aside in terms of authenticity and veracity,” the AGF added.
