IPAC Election: ZLP Demands Cancellation Of Excercise In Osun

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has called for the cancellation of the election that produced new leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Osun State chapter.

Victor Akande of the Accord Party had emerged as the chairman of IPAC after he polled fifteen votes.

However the ZLP, through its chairman, Engr John Adesuyi, approached the national headquarters of the IPAC to seek for cancellation of the election, stating that the exercise was characterised by anomalies and irregularities.

According to a letter of appeal by the ZLP chair addressed to the chairman, the IPAC Election Appeal Committee, obtained by The Whistler on Monday, Adesuyi raised eight grounds for which the national headquarters should cancel the election and order a fresh process.

He stated that “Boot party was omitted from the ballot, screening was not conducted for both contestants and delegates, accreditation exercise not properly done which made the AA to have two delegates, any means of identification was not issued this violate the Accreditations and Voting guideline F2 & F3.”

“A small flyer telling people who to vote for was openly distributed and displayed among the delegates,— a vote-buying prototype. This observation was raised during the election by the YPP State Chairman and acknowledged by the electoral committee chairman Alh. Ibraheem Suleiman.

“The result was wrongfully collated and the result announced is false. e,g, it was announced that I ran for the office of secretary whereas I only contested for the office of State Chairman.”
