Iran Attack: U.S. Army Contradicts Trump, Says 11 Troops Injured

The United States Department of Defence has said that eleven U.S. soldiers were affected by Iran’s strikes on Iraqi bases.

The disclosure was made in a statement issued by Captain Bill Urban, spokesman for U.S. Central Command.

The United States Central Command is one of the eleven unified combatant commands of the U.S. Department of Defence.

Recall that the U.S. President, Donald Trump , had previously said no casualties were recorded following an Iranian strike on the Ain al-Asad air base in western Iraq and a facility in its northern Kurdish region.

“I am pleased to inform you the American people should be extremely grateful and happy, no Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime,” he said.

But Reuters reported that the United States treated 11 of its troops for symptoms of concussion after an Iranian missile attack on an Iraqi base where U.S. forces were stationed, the U.S. military said on Thursday, after initially saying no service members were hurt.

“While no U.S. service members were killed in the Jan. 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed.

“When deemed fit for duty, the service members are expected to return to Iraq,” Bill said.

Symptoms of concussion may include headache, confusion, lack of coordination, memory loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing in the ears, sleepiness and excessive fatigue.

Iran had attacked the area in Iraq where the US army were housed, in retaliation for a U.S. air raid in Baghdad that killed Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
