Iran To Build 1 Million Houses Per Year Under New President

The Iranian Government, on Thursday, said it would build 1 million housing units in each year of its four-year term.

The newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, made this known during his first meeting with the members of his cabinet.

Raisi said infrastructure development was part of his campaign promises made to the citizens and that government officials must not slack in delivering it.

“Another important thing that we promised to the people is the construction of one million housing units per year, and I ask the Minister of Roads and Urban Development to look into it with sensitivity and seriousness so that this promise is fulfilled.

“The promises we made to the people are not propaganda, and I hope that we will fulfil all our promises by working around the clock,” he said in a statement floated by the Iranian government on its Twitter page.

Recall that Raisi was sworn-in as the country’s president on August 5.

THE WHISTLER reported that he emerged as the winner of the country’s presidential election on June 19 after securing 17.8 million votes out of 28.6 million votes cast.

In hierarchy, the Iran President is the second person in command and the head of the country ‘s government.

He is answerable to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei (Head of State).

The Supreme Leader’s time in office is a life tenure.
