Jeff Bezos Gained $13bn In One Day Amid US Economic Downturn – Report

American billionaire, Jeff Bezos, made a record $13bn at the close of trade on Monday, making it the highest addition of wealth for an individual in a single day in over eight years.

This was contained in the Blomberg billionaire index which was seen by THE WHISTLER.

Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com Inc. has seen the shares of the company surged from 7.9 per cent in 2018 to 73 per cent this year.

The growth is connected with the spike in web shopping trends owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

Bezos fortune comes despite the hit of the pandemic on the US economy which the International Monetary Fund said may contract by 37 per cent in the second quarter of this year.

Bezos wealth has grown from $74bn to $189.3bn this year alone.

The data also showed that, Mackenzie Bezos, who is the ex-wife of the world’s richest man also gained $4.6bn.

The earnings has placed her as the 13th-richest person in the world.

Similarly, the 56 year old is currently worth more than Exxon Mobil Corp. and Nike Inc.
