Chinese President Xi Jinping has warned that any attempt to split China would result in “bodies smashed and bones ground to powder”.
Jinping made the statement amid four months of anti-Beijing unrest in Hong Kong.
He issued the dire message during a weekend visit to Nepal, according to a foreign ministry statement released on Sunday.

The Chinese president said, “Anyone who attempts to split any region from China will perish, with their bodies smashed and bones ground to powder,”
He further stated that “Any external forces that support the splitting of China can only be regarded as delusional by the Chinese people,” he said during a visit to Nepal.
The Chinese leader, who was not precise about the region or country, said this after pro-democracy protesters and riot police clashed again in Hong Kong on Sunday amid tensions with self-ruled Taiwan.
There were multiple rallies in different locations in the financial hub, with some protesters blocking roads and sabotaging train tracks.
