Jos Looting: Operation Safe Haven Arrests 109 Suspects

A total of 109 persons, alleged to have looted a warehouse at the Plateau State Agriculture Development Programme (PADP) in His, were on Sunday, paraded by the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

The suspects had defied the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state on Saturday by Governor Simon Lalong, to loot the warehouse early on Sunday.

The troops were deployed in order to restore law and normalcy in Plateau as well as parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states.

Those arrested were 97 males and 12 females.

They were said to have broken into the warehouse located at the Dogon Dutse Area of Jos North Local Government Area of the state and carted away bags of fertilizers and other farming tools.

According to the Commander the OPSH, Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, the suspects were apprehended with items looted at the warehouse.

Okonkwo disclosed that the suspects destroyed the warehouse and stole fertilizers, chemicals generators, and other farming implements.
