Journalist, Daughter, 15, Kidnapped In Ogun

The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has raised the alarm of the kidnap of Nofisat Oshin, and her 15-year-old daughter by unknown gunmen in Ijebu-Ode.

Acting chairman of the council, Soji Amosu, in a statement said the victims were abducted at gunpoint at about 8.00pm on Thursday.

The abducted journalist is the director of information with Odogbolu local government area of the state, and wife of a former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Tokunbo Oshin.

Nofisat was said to be driving with her daughter, Afolabi, when they were accosted along Akobi street in Ijebu-Ode.

The union described the abduction as “barbaric” and called on security agencies and state government to help fish out the perpetrators.

The NUJ’s acting chairman said a report had been made to the police by the family of the kidnapped victims.
