The declaration was made by the president of the court, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip.

According to Justice Kanyip, the declaration is “pursuant to order 58 rule 4 (2) of the National Industrial Court Civil Procedure Rules, 2017.”

Justice Kanyip held that the court would resume by 28 September 2021.

“His Lordship further declared that there will be no normal Court sitting during the period except for urgent applications to be heard by a vacation Judge,” the statement partly read.

The development came about a month after the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) had suspended its two months old strike.

THE WHISTLER reported that the JUSUN strike which began on April 6 was aimed at compelling the federal and state governments to implement judicial autonomy for the sector, amongst other demands.

The union later reopened courts on June 9 after the National Executive Council of the JUSUN agreed to call off its strike.

Our correspondent also learnt that the Federal High Courts would be going for vacation.
