JUST IN: 38 Inmates Escape From Enugu Prison

About 38 inmates have reportedly broken free from the custody of the Enugu State Police Command.

They reportedly escaped from the police cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department, inside the State Police Headquarters on Sunday night.

The inmates were kept in police custody due to the congestion of the Nigeria Correctional Services in Enugu, The Punch reports.

According to the report, some of the escapees were remanded by magistrate courts at the police cells during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
