On Thursday, three Chinese astronauts -Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo, were launched into space on a mission to construct a station over there.
China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying, who disclosed this, said the astronauts would remain in space for three months.
The astronauts were seen boarding a Shenzhou12 manned spaceship at the Jiuquan Satelite Launch Center in northwest China on Thursday morning.
A cheering crowd were on ground to wish them well.
If completed, China will join the United States among countries that have a space station.
Before they took off, Nie told AFP that their adventure was a historic one.
“The task is very arduous and there are many challenges. My colleagues and I will cooperate closely, operate carefully and overcome all difficulties,” he said
