JUST IN: CJN Tells New Appeal Court Judges To Flee From ‘Juicy Temptations’
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, has disclosed that high profile court cases in the country are mostly associated with juicy and tempting offers from parties.
The CJN said this after the elevation of 18 judicial officers to the Appeal Court on Monday.
The swearing-in was done at the Supreme Court.
Tanko held that it was a dangerous adventure for judicial officers to be induced or bribed.
“Remember that it is a solemn pledge.
” We are here to realign our minds with what is expected of you.
“Many high profile cases may likely come in company of juicy and irresistible temptations.
“But you must flee from such danger,” he said.
He advised them to be wary of tainting their image.
“In life, gift and wealth that are not worked for are always wrapped with calamity.
“All eyes are on you. Whether you do anything outwardly or secretly, believe me, it will come out publicly.
“Once more I congratulate you for making the list, and I wish you the best…you must know that Court of Appeal is not a play ground, you will work, work and overwork yourself; so take it easy…compose yourself to the work,” he added.
