JUST IN: EFCC Arrests Three Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ In Abuja, Recovers SUVs, Others

Three suspected Internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo Boys,” have been arrested by the Abuja Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The trio were arrested for their alleged involvement in a romance scam, identity theft and other internet-related fraud.

A statement issued on Monday by the anti-graft agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, said the suspects were arrested in their hideout in Flat G2, Plot 334, Dawaki, behind News Engineering, Abuja, following intelligence volunteered by concerned residents of the area.

Oyewale gave the names of the suspects as Ajayiton Harry (27), Okoro Daniel (28) and Oziegbe Precious Ehijele (27).

According to him, two Lexus R350 SUV, three laptops and expensive phones were recovered from the suspects

He added: “They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

Internet fraud has become a recurring phenomenon, mostly with young men as there is hardly any week that passes without the arrest of suspects in parts of the country.

Recall that on August 21st, nine suspected fraudsters were arrested by the Abuja zonal office of the commission.

The suspects were arrested in Minna, Niger State, after residents volunteered intelligence to the anti-graft agency.

Their arrests came a day after operatives of the commission also arrested four University of Port Harcourt students for cyber crimes.

Also, 15 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested in Lagos on August 26th by the commission. The agency also recovered nine exotic cars from them.
