The inferno, some drivers said, had caused a serious traffic snarl on the road as firefighters battled to put out the fire.

It was not clear if any life was lost in the incident as at the time of filing this report but a motorist caught in the traffic said firefighters were battling to quench the fire.

The tanker explosion occured barely a month after a similar incident which led to the destruction of scores of vehicles happened at the Kara Section of the expressway.

Although the tanker was said to have fallen on Lagos outward bound lane but the content was spilled to the inward lane thereby causing traffic on that lane as well.
