A private tertiary institution in Kaduna State, Green Field University, has reportedly been attacked by gunmen.
The gunmen kidnapped scores of students during the Tuesday night attack, reports Channels TV.
Green Field University is located along the Kaduna–Abuka Highway in Chikun Local Government Area.
The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident to the TV station.
The abduction came hours after Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, charged the military to “kill” all bandits and bomb forests in the country, saying that was the only way to make schools safe.
“Nobody living in the forest is innocent and we must kill them all.
“The Chief of Air Staff has been doing well and this has led to a reduction in the activities of bandits in recent times,” El-Rufai said on Tuesday in Abuja during a conference on Financing Safe Schools in Nigeria.
The incident also came less than six weeks after unknown gunmen attacked the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, and kidnapped about 40 students.
While about five of the kidnapped forestry college students were said to have escaped, scores of them have remained with their captors till date.
