JUST IN: Mexico President Refuses To Congratulate Biden

Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has said it is reckless to congratulate either of the two candidates in the just concluded United States Presidential election when one of the parties had challenged the results in court.

Many world leaders have congratulated former vice president Joe Biden since he reportedly crossed the 270 electoral college votes required to win the presidency.

But President Obrador stated on Sunday that he would not do as the others had done, preferring instead to wait for the outcome of litigations on the election.

He stated this on the country’s official website, seen by THE WHISTLER.

He said it was not proper to issue congratulations to either Biden or incumbent President Donald Trump, adding that the cases bordering on the November 3 election was in court.

He said it was wise to wait for the legal outcome of the US Presidential election.

His words:

“Regarding the elections in the United States, we are going to wait for all the legal issues to be resolved. We do not want to be reckless, we do not want to act lightly and we want to be respectful of the self-determination of the peoples and respectful of the rights of others. So we want to wait for the issue of the election in the United States to be legally resolved.

“I clarify that we have a very good relationship with the two candidates. President Trump has been very respectful to us and we have reached very good agreements, and we thank him for not interfering and he has respected us.

“And with candidate Biden the same. I have known him for more than 10 years, we interviewed each other, I presented him with a letter informing him of the reasons for our movement, our struggle, we talked about immigration policy; so there are no bad relationships.

“Only I cannot say: ‘I congratulate one candidate’, ‘I congratulate the other’ because I want to wait for the electoral process to end. We suffered a lot from the ‘loaded’, from when the Presidency was stolen from us one of the times and the votes had not yet been counted and some foreign governments were already recognizing those who declared themselves winners.”

Recall that Biden was reportedly declared winner of the polls after securing about 290 Electoral college votes.

But Trump claimed that the election was marred with electoral votes.

His campaign also said they would begin prosecution of the matter at the court from Monday.
