His statement on Tuesday was not unconnected with the attack on the NYSC Orientation Camp, Kubwa Abuja.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that suspected hoodlums on Tuesday stormed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp at Kubwa, Abuja, and were seen moving food items, mattresses, among others.

Upon the arrival of security operatives, arrests were made.

On its part, NYSC maintained that its scheme was a unifying factor for the country, stressing that it was wrong for people to attack its facilities.

“The spate of attacks on NYSC formations in search of palliatives, particularly the Orientation camps have become very worrisome.

“Management wishes to restate that there are no palliatives in any of the 37 NYSC camps nationwide.

“It is imperative to note that the National Youth Service Corps is a national institution saddled with the core mandate of promoting national unity and integration, as well as youth development and empowerment. The mandate does not include warehousing and distribution of palliatives.

“The Director-General National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim is making an earnest appeal for the cessation of further attacks on facilities of the Institution,” it stated on Facebook.
