Just In: Omisore Defects To APC

Former Osun State Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.

Omisore, who contested the 2018 governorship election in the state on the platform of the Social Democratic Party was wooed by the APC to support the then candidate of of the party, Gboyega Oyetola, in the rerun supplementary election in some units. He agreed and the APC won.

Omisore, who is a former Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriation picked the APC membership form at his polling unit in Ile Ife on Monday in company with the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Alabi.

Omisore was deputy to Chief Bisi Akande in 1999. The duo won the poll on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy but they had a huge crisis along the line.

Omisore defected to the PDP and he was one of the suspects arraigned for the assassination of Chief Bola Ige, the then Attorney General and Minister of Justice. He was acquitted by the court.

But shortly before the 2018 governorship poll in the state, he defected to the SDP.
