The arraignment of Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja and his wife, Olabowale, before an Abuja High Court has been stalled due to absence of the accused.

The Federal Government charged both the judge and his wife, who is the Head of Service of Lagos State, on corruption charges and abuse of office.

They were expected to appear before Justice Jude Okeke on Monday, but the judge was not able to serve the defendants with the 11-count charge.

Lead prosecuting counsel, Segun Jegede appealed to the judge to allow him serve the defendants through their lawyer on the strength of section 382(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

Following Jegede’s submission, the defence counsel, Mr. Jeph Njikonye, personally volunteered to serve his clients with the charges.

Justice Okeke consequently adjourned to December 13 for arraignment.
