Kaduna: Gunmen Kill Policeman, Kidnap NURTW Chairman, Others

Audu Kano, a Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, has been kidnapped alongside other members of the union by unidentified gunmen.

The kidnapping, which occurred on Thursday evening, reportedly led to the death of a police officer in Dan Falo village, 60 kilometres away from Birnin Gwari town.

One Hussaini, who spoke to newsmen on the matter, named other persons abducted by the gunmen as: Hamisu, Umar ba Matsala, Safiyanu dan Doka and Mika while the policeman killed was Dan zuru, he said.

“I know all the people abducted because they are from Birnin Gwari town. They are attached to the only motorpark in Birnin Gwari .

“They were returning from Funtua town in Katsina State where they attended a wedding fatiha in the town. The gunmen abducted the union chairman and four other members of the union,” he said.
