KADUNA: Kidnappers Demand N1bn To Free Abducted Kuriga Students, Issue 20-Day Ultimatum

Kidnappers of the students and a teacher of the Government Secondary School and Local Authority Education in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reportedly demanded N1bn for their freedom.

The kidnappers contacted the community, barely a week after they invaded the school, abducting no fewer than 287 students and pupils.

A community leader, Jubril Aminu who spoke to Reuters confirmed the development.

“They gave an ultimatum to pay the ransom within 20 days, effective from the date of the kidnap.

“They said they will kill all the students and the staff if the ransom demand is not met,” Aminu said.

Their demand comes 48 hours after Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi asked the federal government to negotiate with them and listen to their grievances.

During the exclusive interview with THE WHISTLER, Gumi expressed his willingness to expedite the process and see to the return of the students unhurt.

However, the federal government as well as the Kaduna State government have maintained their stance not to negotiate with terrorists and kidnappers.
