Kaduna Lawmakers Elect New Deputy Speaker

The lawmaker representing Kagarko Constituency, Kaduna State, Hon. Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya has emerged as the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

He was elected by members of the Assembly on Wednesday.

His emergence followed the defection of the erstwhile Deputy Speaker, John Audu-Kwaturu (Kachia constituency) from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The Speaker, Aminu Abdullahi Shaghali, therefore, declared Audu-Kwaturu’s seat vacant, alongside John Audu-Kwaturu and another defecting lawmaker, Junaidu Yakubu (Kudan constituency).

Hon. Shadalafiya was Chairman, House Committee on Information. He was immediately sworn-in as the new Deputy Speaker.
