Kagara Abduction: APC Urges Nigerians To Ignore PDP’s ‘Baseless Conspiracies And Lies’

Amidst the tragic abduction of yet to be known number of students from the Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has attacked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing as “crass nonsense,” the PDP’s allegations that the ruling party operates on misplaced priority.

Claiming not to be ready to join issues with the major opposition party, the APC said the party was focused on ongoing efforts to ensure the quick and safe release of the abducted school children and other citizens, saying, President Muhammadu Buhari had already deployed national security assets to Niger State to achieve this.

It said “this is part of the crass, wild and baseless official statement issued by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in response to the condemnable abductions of schoolchildren and other citizens in Niger State.”

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the All Progressives Congress (APC) also said that President Mohammadu Buhari is commuted to ending banditry and other forms of criminality that have fast become a major feature in parts of the north.

According to the ruling party, President Buhari had already deployed the nation’s security assets to Niger state to ensure the safe release of the abducted school children.

Secretary of APC Caretaker Committee, John James AkpanUdoedehe, who disclosed this also urged parents, relatives and loved ones of the abductees not to be distracted by the conspiracy theory being peddled by the opposition.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP had on Wednesday, claimed that the bandits had the previous day (Tuesday) pillaged communities one after another for hours unmolested in Niger State and supported by an helicopter while the ruling party focused on their now controversial membership re-registration exercise.

The PDP had said “bandits moved from village to village supported by a helicopter”.

But the APC in its remarks “urged parents, loved ones and other stakeholders not to be distracted by the PDP’s insensitive, horribly-timed and baseless conspiracies and lies as all hand are on deck to ensure the quick and safe release of the abductees.

“Government’s resolve and the capacity of our security services to end these cowardly attacks on soft targets, particularly schools is not in doubt. We urge the continued support all Nigerians to ensure this.”
