The service said it secured over N2 billion worth of property in 786 fire incidents during the same period.

Mohammad noted that a large number of the fire outbreaks was caused by the inattentiveness of the victims to handling cooking gas, use of inferior electrical appliances and poor wiring in houses.

The spokesperson noted that the service recorded about 693 rescue calls and 184 alarms during the year 2020, adding that it has plans to retrain its 350 staff in 2021 for effective performance.

He, however, warned Kano residents to handle fire with care to prevent fire incidents.
