Kano LG Election: ‘Kwankwaso Cannot Speak For PDP In Kano’-Faction Condemns Planned Boycott
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano led by former Ambassador, Alhaji Aminu Wali , has condemned the announcement by the Rabiu Kwankwaso faction that the party would boycott the January 16th 2020,local government election in the state, saying the Kwankwasiya Movement, which issued the statement, cannot speak for the party.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday ,while addressing a press conference, the chairman ,PDP, Caretaker Committee and chieftain of the Kwankwasiya Movement, Alhaji Danladi Umar Abdulhameed, had declared that the party would not participate in the election.

“We can not give credibility to an election that has a prearranged outcome ,an election conducted by a government that stole our mandate,” he had said, adding that the state government under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje could not conduct a free and fair election.
However ,while addressing the press on Wednesday, the PDP Chairman in Dala Local Government and the Interim state chairman , Alhaji Muhammina Lamido, stated that they would be fielding candidates in the election and there was no going back on that
Alhaji Lamido therefore disclosed that “the PDP in Kano state did not authorized the said person to make the said statement and the said person does not possess the standing and mandate to make the statement.”
He stated further that “as matter stands ,the only organ of PDP with the power to act under section 24 (2)(b)of the PDP constitution is the state executive committee, through the interim administrative committee led by the undersigned. “

According to him, “preparation for participation in the election are on top gear and the committee shall in due course inform the general public and KANSIEC of its candidates for the election.
“We wish to use this medium to call upon KABSIEC to consider bringing down the cost of the application forms for candidates in the election in order to make same more affordable to opposition parties’candidates in the state.”
He added that the state government should provide a level playing field for all parties and open the political space for all Kano State people so that the state would not be turned into a one party state with attendant consequences.
