Kano PDP Invokes God’s Judgment On A P C, Supreme Court

The People Democratic Party  (PDP), Kano state chapter, has reacted to the Supreme Court judgment which re-affirmed Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Kano State.

The party said in a statement on Monday that it was leaving the judgment to God and asked the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state to await the judgment of God.

“We have seen the worst of what they can do, so they should await the judgment of the Almighty Allah, which they cannot avoid,” the [arty said in a statement issued by Comrade Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa,  spokesman of the party.

The statement adds: “Today’s judgement on the Kano governorship tussle further confirms the connivance of the allied forces of election robbery who are oppressors of the Nigerian democracy.”

The Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal had on November 22, 2019, upheld Mr Ganduje’s election, affirming an earlier decision by the tribunal led by Justice Halima Shamaki.

The Supreme Court held that Ganduje’s challenger, Abba Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), did not show that the Court of Appeal and the Election Tribunal were wrong in their earlier rulings.

The suit was dismissed on the grounds that it had no merit.

The PDP said it was shocked that despite the “overwhelming evidence” presented in court by the party’s team of lawyers, the Supreme Court still went ahead to “rob the good people of Kano” of their mandate.
