Kola Alanipini, his counsel, asked the court to set aside the judgement of the Sharia Court.

It would be recalled that the singer was sentenced to death by hanging on August 10, after he was found guilty of committing blasphemy in a song against the Prophet Mohammed (PBOH).

The judgment had provoked public outcry but Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said he was ready to sign the death sentence if Sharif- Aminu failed to appeal within 30 days.

However, Sharif-Aminu’s appeal finally came on Thursday when his counsel filed a suit at the Kano High Court asking it to set aside the judgement.
