Kanu Named Among Top 48 Football legends

Nigerian 1996 Olympic hero, Kanu Nwankwo popularly known as ‘Papilo’ has been listed among the Top 48 world football legends by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The list which included legends like Pele, Zico, Luis Figo, David Beckham and José Luis Félix Chilavert, is the first of a series of list which will be subsequently released by the IFFHS.

Other Africans included in the list includes former World player of the year George Oppong Weah, Roger Milla, Rabah Medjer, Muhammed Aboutrika, Mohmud El-Khatub and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe.

In his illustrious career, Kanu played for the likes of Inter Milan, Arsenal and Ajax, winning a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals.

The 39-year old was the last Nigerian to win the CAF African Footballer of the Year award in 1999.
