Kebbi Abduction: How We Rescued 4 Students, 1 Teacher — Army

No fewer than five persons kidnapped from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, have been rescued by troops of operation Hadari Daji.

The deputy force commander of the operation’s joint taskforce, Air Commodore Abubakar AbdulKadir, confirmed this on Friday in Zamfara.

Channels Television reports that the rescued persons consist of five students and one teacher who were left behind following a shootout between the troops and the captors.

“In the early hours of this morning hours, we have come across (sic) the kidnappers. They came to our blocking point, and we engaged them.

“At that point, they abandoned five of the students and one of the teachers. Unfortunately, I think we have lost one of the students,” Abdulkadir said.

Suspected bandits had abducted unspecified number of students and teachers from the government college on Thursday.

An officer was reportedly killed and another injured in the process.
