Misiko attacked his wife, Ann Mughoi who was the senior pastor of GGGC on the pulpit after long feud over the ownership and leadership of the church.

Eyewitness report have it that Misoko stabbed her with one of the knives he hid in an envelope as the congregation watched the whole act.

Mombasa sub-county police commander Julius Kiragu told reporters that “He walked up to his wife while the church was praying as if he wanted to whisper something to her,”

“Then he took one of the knives and stabbed her (wife) two times. He believed she was dead. He then stabbed himself three times in the stomach and slit his throat.”

Kiragu said the assistant pastor died at the spot from the wound while his wife died few hours after she was rushed to a local hospital.

He further said Misoko had been detained in 2017 by the police in Mombasa following allegation by his wife that he planned to kill her, but police released him a day later stating that the allegation was false.

“She had been trying to stay away from the husband since the dispute over the ownership of the church began,” he said adding that “They had even reported the matter to church leaders but they were unable to resolve the dispute.”

The assistant pastor left behind a 17-page suicide note where he alleged that they both found the church, but  Mughoi changed ownership of the church to her name, according to state police.
