Kidnapped Benue Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

Reverend Father David Echioda, who was kidnapped on Sunday in Otukpo Local Government of Benue State, has been released.

His release was disclosed by the Benue State Police Command in a chat with THE WHISTLER on Wednesday morning.

Echioda, who is the priest of the Otukpo Catholic Diocese, was said to have been kidnapped along Allan-Akpa Road on Sunday on his way from Utonkon, Ado Local Government where he had gone for a mass.

Spokesman of the state police command, Catherine Anene said the Rev father was released on Tuesday night unhurt, adding that no ransom was paid for his release.

She said the command is still going after the abductors.
