Kidnapped Imo Varsity Lecturer Regains Freedom

Imo State University lecturer, Emma Ogueri, has regained freedom from Kidnappers days after he was abducted by gunmen dressed in police uniform.

Ogueri, who lectures at the faculty of Social Sciences ay IMSU, was kidnapped on Friday night at a pharmacy directly opposite the All Seasons Hotels, new Owerri in the Imo State capital.

It was gathered that the lecturer was drinking with friends at a bar and complained of headache.

He subsequently proceeded to the pharmacy to get remedial drugs before armed men in police uniform allegedly manhandled him and whisking him away.

Confirming his release to THE WHISTLER, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Sp Ikeoku Godson Orlando, said the lecturer had regained his freedom, but that he was yet to be fully briefed.

“He has been released, and I don’t know the details now, I can’t say it now because I have not been able to ascertain that.”
