Kidnappers Threaten Education In Kaduna, Abduct Female Students, Teachers

No fewer than six students and two teachers were on Thursday, abducted by armed men from a private secondary school in Kaduna State.

The incident took place at Kakau Daji, a village located behind the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company (KRPC) in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

The kidnap which was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Yakubu Sabo, comes 10 days after the state governor enrolled his son in a public school.

Recall that Mallam El-Rufai took his son, Abubakar Al-Siddique El-Rufai, to the Kaduna Capital School on Sept. 23.

According to the police, the gunmen invaded the school through the fence in the early hours of Thursday morning, went straight to the female hostel and abducted the students.

He said the whereabouts of the students and the teachers who were abducted from the school is unknown.

He, however, assured that a combined team of Police Mobile Force and Anti-Kidnapping Squad have launched a manhunt of the kidnappers with a view to rescuing the victims and apprehending the culprits, advising the proprietors of private schools to beef up security in their premises.

THE WHISTLER recalls that this is not the first time students will be abducted in the country.

On the night of 14–15 April 2014, 276 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria by Boko Haram. While some of the girls manages to escape, 112 are still missing.

Similarly, on the evening of February 19, 2018 at, 110 schoolgirls aged 11–19 years old were kidnapped by the group from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, Yobe State. The Nigerian Government 0n 21 March 2018 announced that the terrorists had returned 106, but Leah Sharibu was held hostage till date.
