Killing Of Funke Olakunri: ‘Fear God, Not Buhari,’ Femi Adesina Slammed Over Statement

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has slammed Mr. Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, over the statement he issued on the alleged killing of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin by suspected herdsmen.

Olakunrin, the 58-year-old daughter of the leader of the Afenifere socio-political organization, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, was said to have been killed along the Osun-Ore road in Osun State by suspected herdsmen.

Afenifere’s spokesperson, Mr Yinka Odumankin, who confirmed the incident late Friday had said: “Eyewitness accounts say she died of gunshots from Fulani herdsmen who shot her at Ore junction in Ondo State earlier today.”

But the Presidency, in a statement issued by Adesina, said “Mrs Funke Olakunrin was killed along Ondo-Ore road by those described as armed robbers by Ondo Police Command.”

Reacting via twitter, however, Omokri wondered how Adesina would have reacted if the woman killed were to be his relation.

“What of if it had been your own sister? Would you have persisted in these lies? This is becoming unbearable. Too many homes have lost at least one life to these herdsmen. Call then what they are. Fear God, not General Buhari!” the ex-presidential said.

Meanwhile, in a follow-up tweet, Adesina revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has “placed a phone call to Pa Reuben Fasoranti on the sad loss of his daughter. He commiserated with the Afenifere leader, and prayed God to comfort him.”
