Kogi Senatorial Rerun Elections Declared Inconclusive

Following the cancellation of votes as a result of the irregularities in some polling units during the Kogi Central and East Senatorial election rerun election on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, declared the elections inconclusive.

According to the INEC returning officer, Mr Salihu James, the Kogi central election was declared inconclusive as a result of cancellation of over 20,000 votes while the Senatorial election rerun in Kogi East, was declared inconclusive because there were irregularities during the election where election materials were allegedly snatched by political thugs.

The returning officer announced that the major contestants in the rerun election in Kogi Central Senatorial district scored as follows, Ahmed Ogembe – PDP, 45,468, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi -PPA 31,163 and Dr. Moses Wokili scored 9,962.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives seat for Okene Ogori/Magongo federal Constituency was won by Hon. Tijani Damisa of the PDP because he was the sole candidate for the election.

For the Kogi East state assembly rerun election, Hon. Hassan Baiwa Abdullai, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Okura State Constituency scored 8,515 to emerged winner while in Dekina/Biraidu Constituency, Hon Idoko Moses Ododo, also of the APC was elected into the state assembly.

In Ankpa 1 State Constituency, Hon Ahmed Mohammed of the PDP also picked the seat for state assembly, while in Idah State Constituency, Hon Ekubule Ochejenu of the PDP was also elected. In Ofu State Constituency, Hon. Friday Ali of the PDP was also elected.
