Kyari, Others Welcome Sylva As State Petroleum Minister

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari has welcomed the newly appointed Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

Sylva was received by GMD Kyari, the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Training Development Fund (PTDF), Dr. Bello Aliyu Gusau; and the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), Alhaji Ahmed Bobboi, amongst others, on assumption of duty at the NNPC Towers in Abuja.

Sylva, who pledged to reposition and chart a way forward for the Nigerian petroleum sector, said he will work with the experts in the Corporation and agencies under the petroleum ministry to move the sector forward.

He was quoted as making the pledge in a statement on Wednesday by the NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu.

Ughamadu  described the former Governor of Bayelsa State as having several years of experience in the petroleum sector.

The statement said Sylva urged all members of staff in the ministry to support him to succeed in meeting the task ahead of him to  transform the Nigerian oil and gas sector for the good of all stakeholders.
