South Korea Coronavirus Cases Hit 204 in 12 Days- KCDC

The number of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in South Korea has spiked to 204 in 12 days.

The development was disclosed on Friday in a statement by the South Korean Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).

According to KCDC, only 28 cases were recorded last week, but cases have risen to 208 on Friday, 21 February.

The authority also said that the cases of the covid-19 epidemic doubled across the country in just 24 hours, adding that one person has died from the virus.

KCDC had on Thursday disclosed that among the new cases recorded, 42 were linked to the Shincheonji group in Daegu.

A member of the Shincheonji group who tested positive had attended the group’s religious service where over 1,000 members were present. However, the S. Korean authority said it was seeking to question the attendees and conduct a test for the virus.

Meanwhile, the government also disclosed Friday that it had taken several measures as part of its effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19.

The government added that as part of the measures adopted, it has shut down public places in the capital and designated “special care zones,” adding that it had restricted military personnel from leaving their bases and going on vacation within the period of the spread.
